A will from God was sent to us
so many years ago.
After being your grown sister
I had to be much more.

I took you hand by hand
on your first day of school.
I felt so good inside
and very proud of you.

Times were hard and difficult
not knowing what I’d find.
When I saw you sleeping gently
I feared I wouldn’t survive.

But God walked me through this path
and gave me strength and hope.
You’ve grown to be so beautiful,
you’re now twelve years old.

A helping hand, my pride and joy,
such sweetness in your heart.
You are a very special part of me,
a star that shines so bright.

I love you more than words can say
and hope you’ll always see
that in me you’ll always find
anything you need.

I’ll be your mom, your friend,
and, of course, your sister too.
I’ll keep you safe from harm
and always guidance you.
